What is Bridging?

Bridging is when a girl transitions to the next level of scouting. This is often marked by a special fly-up or bridging ceremony or celebration  http://www.girlscouts.org/program/basics/traditions/ceremonies/bridging.asp

All girls "fly-up" to the next level, but bridging awards are earned recognitions.
Help your girls learn about the next program level and share with younger scouts about their current level so they can complete the bridging requirements. Bridging awards are sometimes referenced as the bridging rainbow since they are multicolored shapes. Scouts can earn a bridging award when they bridge from Daisy to Brownie and on up through “bridge to Adult” by the Ambassadors.

Find the requirements for bridging at each level in the Girls guide to Girl Scouting. You can also find them online at http://www.gscnc.org/bridging_requirements.html
